PUBLIC SERVICES AND THE PRIVATE SECTOR

Tabled by Mr Robert N. Wareing (Independent) 41 signatures

The motion

That this House congratulates the trade unions who organised the mass lobby of Parliament on 27th June to protest about the privatisation by stealth of the education and health services; is concerned that the increasing involvement of the private sector in essential public services risks the subordination of the public interest to the pursuit of profits on behalf of shareholders; is particularly concerned at the growing influence of the American company United Health in the running of NHS hospitals and general practitioners' surgeries; and calls on the Government to listen to the advice of professionals working in the National Health Service.
