ROMFORD YMCA CENTENARY CELEBRATION

The motion

That this House commends, congratulates and celebrates the important and historic centenary of Romford YMCA, which has served the community diligently, offering practical, emotional and spiritual support for over 100 years; recognises the important role Romford YMCA and indeed the YMCA nationally, has had on improving inter-faith dialogue and understanding in modern British society; notes the exemplary work Romford YMCA has provided over the years, offering a place of secure shelter for travellers worldwide, food and clothing for people in times of war and trouble, but also a place to gather and interact socially, to enjoy sports and leisure activities; identifies specifically the commendable work Romford YMCA has achieved in acting as a pilot to the Foyer Scheme for homeless and unemployed young people, building 22 one bedroom flats across the boroughs of Havering, Barking and Dagenham; thanks the YMCA and its support staff for providing a Christian-based service, that has bettered the lives of all peoples all over the world by focusing on developing communities at a local level.
