DISCARDED FISH

That this House supports the UK fishing industry; is concerned about the economic and environmental impact of discards; notes with concern the estimate that two million tonnes of healthy fish stock are discarded each year; and calls upon the Government to negotiate with the European Commission and other EU member states arrangements to eliminate discards at the earliest opportunity.
