Tabled by Mr Mark Williams (Liberal Democrat) 44 signatures

The motion

That this House pays tribute to the range of excellent locally-produced food available across the United Kingdom; acknowledges that transporting food over long distances is bad for the environment; salutes the work of farmers' markets and food festivals in promoting the regional variety and freshness of food; congratulates Trethowan's Dairy in Llanddewi Brefi on using traditional methods to produce their award-winning Gorwydd Caerphilly cheese; encourages supermarkets and schools to source much more of their food locally, following the example of Cardiff Council; and calls upon the Government to provide extra funding to regional development agencies, tourist boards and other local bodies to support the production and sale of food locally.
