The motion
That this House notes that many more students in higher education are now choosing to stay at home during their degree courses because of high fees and the fear of debt; recognises the limitations this can place on the experience and personal development gained during residential study; commends those universities and student unions which are making access to student life for home students a priority; and calls on higher education institutions to review their hall of residence fees, additional course costs and bursary arrangements with special regard to the need to expand opportunities for those students who may be under pressure to study from home.
