WINTER FUEL ALLOWANCE

That this House recognises the valuable contribution the £200 winter fuel allowance has made to pensioner households; acknowledges that many pensioners are reluctant to venture out of their homes during the cold winter months and that this, coupled with escalating energy bills, inevitably puts a strain on pensioner household expenditure; and calls on the Government to increase the winter fuel allowance to a more realistic value of £400.
