The motion
That this House condemns irresponsible websites which are exploiting teenagers by producing fake proof of age cards and selling them to young people under the age of 18 years to help them get into pubs and clubs; understands that young people want to have a good time; notes that these websites are interested in making money rather than the welfare of young people; further notes that the ease in which these fake cards can be produced raises concerns about the security of identity card schemes; praises the work of the police, local councils and many bars and nightclubs in helping to ensure that young people have a good time without being exploited; and urges the Government to introduce legislation which can ensure that the unscrupulous sites which are producing these fake proof of age cards can be closed down.
