The motion
That this House recognises that, in the search for conflict resolution in the Middle East, there is a need to work to find areas of consensus which will support the process, and amplify the voices of moderation against those of extremism; further recognises the evidence that there is a moderate majority of equal size amongst both Israelis and Palestinians who seek peace based on two viable states, and are prepared to compromise to achieve that peace; in particular, applauds the work of civil society groups in the region, notably the One Voice Movement, which has engaged over 250,000 Israelis and Palestinians in citizen negotiation work to find areas of consensus and supports a programme of youth leadership to work for peace based on two secure and viable states; and calls upon the UK Government to give support to practical, affirmative, grass-roots action of this sort as part of its contribution to resolving the conflict.
