LAND MINES ON THE PAKISTAN AFGHAN BORDER

Tabled by Mr Gordon Prentice (Labour) 51 signatures

The motion

That this House is gravely concerned to learn that Pakistan may lay anti-personnel land mines along its border with Afghanistan; believes that Pakistan should secure this border with its own military without resorting to land mines, which too easily kill and maim innocent people; believes that the manufacture and use of land mines should be outlawed; calls on the Government to make immediate representations to the Pakistani authorities; and urges Pakistan to sign up to the Land Mine Treaty in this, its 10th anniversary year.
