KALAHARI BUSHMEN COURT VICTORY

That this House warmly welcomes the decision of the Botswana High Court of 13th December 2006, which ruled that the Botswana government's eviction of the Gana and Gwi Bushmen from their ancestral land inside the Kalahari Game Reserve was `unlawful and unconstitutional'; congratulates the Bushmen on their historic court victory, which gives them the right to hunt and gather in the reserve; notes the importance of the decision for indigenous peoples everywhere in the world; and hopes that the Botswana authorities will implement the court's decision promptly and in full.
