INDEPENDENT PUBLIC INQUIRY INTO THE SUPPLY OF CONTAMINATED NHS BLOOD AND BLOOD PRODUCTS

The motion
That this House warmly welcomes the recent announcement of an independent public inquiry, headed by the former Solicitor General the right hon. Lord (Peter) Archer of Sandwell QC, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the supply to patients of contaminated NHS blood and blood products, its consequences for the haemophilia community and others afflicted, and further steps to address both their problems and needs and those of bereaved families; notes that he will call patients, bereaved dependents, former Health Ministers and other eminent witnesses to assist the inquiry; and calls on the relevant Government departments to offer their full co-operation.
