EUROSTAR SERVICES FROM ASHFORD

That this House believes that Ashford and the surrounding areas of Kent and East Sussex will be greatly disadvantaged by Eurostar's proposals to discontinue services from Ashford International to Brussels and reduce services to Paris; further believes that the curtailment of international services from Ashford is in direct conflict with the Government's policies to alleviate road traffic congestion, reduce carbon emissions and regenerate economically deprived areas in East Sussex and Kent; and urges the Government to press Eurostar to abandon these ill-considered proposals.
