BUS SERVICES IN SCOTLAND

That this House expresses profound concern that the Competition Commission has made a determination requiring divestment of the Citylink/Megabus/Motorvator Joint Venture which provides the integrated, responsive and coordinated Saltire bus service across Scotland; welcomes the 41 per cent. increase in passenger numbers in the last year; is concerned that the Commission's plans may dismantle a high-quality, value-for-money and integrated network and replace it with a disintegrated collection of routes to the detriment of customers; and urges the Government to make representations to the Competition Commission to seek a reversal of its decision.
