NATIONAL TENANCY DEPOSIT SCHEME

That this House warmly welcomes the launch of the National Tenancy Deposit scheme, which will protect many thousands of vulnerable tenants in the private rented sector from the unreasonable withholding of tenancy deposits by unscrupulous landlords and letting agents; further notes that some letting agents also levy other fees and charges on tenants and would-be tenants which cannot be justified; and calls on the Government to consider legislation to regulate private letting agents.
