OPPORTUNITIES FOR BEDFORDSHIRE AND THE 2012 LONDON OLYMPIC GAMES

Tabled by Ms Nadine Dorries (Conservative) 3 signatures

The motion

That this House notes the many opportunities for Bedfordshire to benefit from the 2012 London Olympic Games in terms of tourism, jobs and revenue; recognises that Bedfordshire's central location and good communication and transport connections make it a strong contender to benefit from those opportunities; expresses its regret and disappointment at comments attributed to the Mayor of the Borough of Bedford and Chairman of the Bedford Olympic Opportunities Support Team (BOOST) that the 2012 Olympics should have gone to Paris; and calls upon the Mayor of the Borough of Bedford to reconsider his position as Chairman of BOOST to ensure that Bedfordshire may receive better leadership in attempting to maximise opportunities of the 2012 Olympic Games for the county.
