The motion
That this House is concerned about the decision of the Office of National Statistics to omit a question on sexual orientation from the next census; welcomes the inclusion of a question on civil partnerships but does not believe that this will provide an accurate picture of sexual orientation in the UK; believes that a question on sexual orientation would help to monitor equality legislation and improve service provision to lesbian, gay and bisexual people; and urges the Government to include a question on sexual orientation in the 2011 Census.
