FUNDING OF POLITICAL PARTIES

That this House believes that it is premature to implement the proposals put forward by Sir Hayden Phillips in his report on the funding of political parties and election expenditures; regards it as essential to democracy that no final decision is taken on these proposals until a wide-ranging, consensually agreed public consultation is held on the proposals; and calls upon Ministers to present to Parliament detailed proposals for such consultation.
