The motion
That this House believes that all young people should remain in education, training or work-based training; further believes that they should be equipped with the information and skills they need to best achieve their personal education, employment or training potential; therefore welcomes the bringing forward of the Post-16 Education and Training Bill, via the Private Members' Ballot, by the hon. Member for Huddersfield with cross-party support, which would allow provision for an assessment of every child in their last year of learning, for young people to have regular access to a mentor who would give guidance and advice, and for community leadership programmes to develop skills and qualifications; and supports provision for young persons with special educational needs and disabilities to encourage, enable and assist effective participation in post-16 education or training.
