COMPENSATION FOR MINERS WITH KNEE INJURIES

Tabled by Paul Flynn (Labour) 3 signatures

The motion

leave out from `House' to end and add `believes strongly in the redistribution of wealth to those suffering industrial injuries but notes that parasitic elements in the legal, newspaper and others enriched themselves in previous miners' compensation campaigns without improving significantly the totals paid or the speed of the payments; and fears that the present call for changes will cruelly raise unreasonable expectations among former miners in the absence of any convincing evidence of a provable causal link or of Government negligence.'.
