UK RESIDENCY APPLICATION FOR TUL BAHADUR PUN

That this House observes with sadness and disappointment the recent decision not to grant UK residency for Victoria Cross hero Tul Bahadur Pun; notes that, in his case, the system did not work; supports the Daily Mirror and other respected British media outlets who have called on the Government to overturn this decision; believes that, as one of only 12 living Victoria Cross recipients, NHS staff would feel honoured to take responsibility for the welfare of Mr Pun, an NHS that was only possible because of the heroic efforts of Mr Pun and others who fought in the Second World War; recognises that this is a man who, via his selfless gallantry, was prepared to pay the ultimate price for this country by laying down his life; believes that in his hour of need it is the duty of the country to pay back its debt of gratitude for his valiant and loyal service; and calls on the Government to fast-track his application and allow the medical treatment that Mr Pun desperately requires and that is befitting for one of the great heroes of the nation.
