SHREWSBURY AND ATCHAM BOROUGH COUNCIL

That this House applauds the courage and tenacity of Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council in pursuing a request for judicial review of unitary authority proposals; congratulates the Leader, Mr Peter Nutting, Chief Executive, Robin Hooper and the Council's barrister in winning the case in the High Court for a full judicial review; and believes that if the Government pursues unitary proposals for Shropshire it would be acting in a totally inappropriate way as it stated that such a move would need universal popular public appeal, which it clearly does not.
