PARKING ATTENDANTS IN EDINBURGH

That this House notes that parking attendants in the City of Edinburgh Council area, contracted by NCP and members of the Transport and General Workers section of Unite, have democratically voted to take industrial action to highlight their fight for a living wage; acknowledges that these workers currently earn below £12,000 per annum; supports the workers' claim for £14,000 rising to £18,000 over five years; recognises that parking attendants in the Glasgow City Council area earn £18,000 per annum; deplores the actions of NCP, who are drafting in non-union labour from England to break the strike; and calls upon NCP to negotiate with the Transport and General Workers section of Unite and grant the workers' modest pay demand.
