DISENFRANCHISEMENT FROM NEWS REPORTING

That this House notes with concern the findings of the report by Ofcom detailing that younger people and those from the black and minority ethnic community are becoming increasingly disenfranchised from television news reporting; rejects the suggestion that the solution to this problem is to allow more partisan and unbalanced reportage; and supports the principle of balanced and impartial news catering for the interests of all groups and society as a whole.
