EXECUTION OF RIZANA NAFEEK

Tabled by Keith Vaz (Labour) 39 signatures

The motion

That this House views with great concern the case of Rizana Nafeek, a teenage maid from Sri Lanka, facing a public beheading in Saudi Arabia; notes that Ms Nafeek disputes claims that she had admitted to the killing of a four month old baby; further notes that Ms Nafeek was reportedly 17 years old at the time of her arrest and had no lawyer at her trial; calls on the British Government to exert pressure on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent this execution taking place; and hopes that this and other similar cases do not cause damage to bilateral relations between the governments of the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia.
