The motion
That this House notes the sentence of three and a half years imposed by Judge Julian Hall for the rape of a 10 year old girl; believes that the sentence means that the rapist could be free in as little as four months; further notes the comments made by Judge Julian Hall in Oxford Crown Court, where he said the victim `liked to dress provocatively'; believes these comments are a disgrace by a sitting judge; further believes that these comments send out entirely the wrong signal; condemns Judge Julian Hall's comments; and welcomes the decision by the Crown Prosecution Service to refer this case to the Attorney General for review.
