LAMBETH COUNCIL'S ARM'S LENGTH MANAGEMENT ORGANISATION BALLOT

Tabled by Baroness Hoey (Non-affiliated) 21 signatures

The motion

That this House views with dismay the balloting process undertaken by Lambeth Council over the question of whether to transfer its council housing stock to an arm's length management organisation (ALMO); believes the ballot questions and information provided to be one-sided and that the timetable was manipulated for partisan effect; regrets the £1 million of public money that has been spent on this misleading exercise; notes the derisory turnout of 27 per cent. and that only 42 per cent. of respondents voted yes; and believes that there is no mandate for an ALMO in Lambeth but clear and enduring support for the fourth option of direct investment in council housing.
