CANCELLATION OF PATHWAY PROJECT TO REBUILD LEICESTER HOSPITALS

That this House condemns the announcement by the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust that the Pathway Project to redevelop Leicester hospitals has been cancelled; notes that over £20 million has been spent in planning the project and that this could have been spent on patients instead; notes with frustration that the Pathway Project had been in existence for seven years without any construction; believes that the citizens of Leicestershire deserve quality healthcare services; and calls on the Department of Health to ensure that the City of Leicester benefits from well-targeted investment to redevelop its hospitals as soon as possible.
