That this House congratulates Joe Calzaghe on winning his latest fight against Mikkel Kessler at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on 4th November, his 21st defence of his WBO belt, thus claiming the undisputed super middleweight crown; believes his latest victory, his 44th in a row, has brought pleasure to many millions of boxing fans across the nation and particularly in Newbridge, Gwent, his home town; believes that, if the United Kingdom is to continue to provide world sporting champions, especially in the run-up to the 2012 Olympic Games, then spending on sporting facilities for young people need to be improved through significant spending on sporting infrastructure and training across the UK; and looks forward to further world sporting champions coming from Wales.
