The motion

That this House recognises the need to find innovative, compelling and balanced ways to engage everyone on the issue of climate change; welcomes Mr Justice Burton's overall ruling that the film An Inconvenient Truth can be shown in schools provided there is appropriate contextual guidance given by teachers; notes prominent scientists' comments that the judge was a little harsh on the film in places; and believes it is not alarmist to warn of major sea level rises, since Professor James Hansen, top US climate modeller, argues that such sea level rises should be expected this century if emissions are not curbed appropriately and that Arctic sea ice ranges are shrinking much faster than was predicted.
