The motion
That this House notes with concern the appalling way in which animals are being treated in order to perform in circuses across China; highlights the latest example featured in the Daily Express, where tigers are forced to stand on their hind legs and raise their paws on the instruction of the circus master, while another act involves a goat walking on a tightrope with a monkey on its back and no safety net below; deplores such acts of cruelty; and calls on the Government to work with animal welfare charities in order to place pressure on the Chinese authorities to improve their animal protection laws.
