Tabled by John Barrett (Liberal Democrat) 57 signatures

The motion

That this House notes with concern the continued imprisonment of Mordechai Vanunu, who completed 18 years in prison in Israel in 2004 after revealing details of Israel's nuclear weapons programme; further notes that since 2004 he has been subject to severe restrictions, including a ban on international travel; condemns the decision by the Israeli government to sentence Mr Vanunu to a new term of six months in prison for speaking to foreign nationals; further notes that he has been adopted by Amnesty International as a prisoner of conscience and was recently nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize; and calls upon the Government to put necessary diplomatic pressure on the Israeli government to lift all restrictions on Mordechai Vanunu and allow him the freedom to travel.
