KAMLESH SHARMA AND THE SECRETARY GENERALSHIP OF THE COMMONWEALTH

That this House supports the proposal that Indian High Commissioner Kamlesh Sharma should be the next Commonwealth Secretary General; notes that the position of Secretary General was previously held by four other distinguished Commonwealth nationals and never by an Indian national; and recognises the importance of the UK's link with India and the Commonwealth, the work that Mr Kamlesh Sharma has done to enhance these links and his excellent work with other Commonwealth nations.
