RECREATIONAL SEA ANGLERS

The motion
That this House supports recreational sea anglers; further supports better marine and fish stock management that would ensure that there would be more and bigger fish for anglers to catch; recognises that recreational sea anglers contribute an estimated £1 billion to the economy and create 19,000 jobs; calls upon the Government and sea fisheries committees to promote angling; regrets the proposals in the Marine White Paper to introduce a self funding recreational sea licence; and further regrets the Government's refusal to commit to introducing measures to eliminate discards.
