The motion
That this House recognises the importance of making a stand against child labour; appreciates the opportunity the Olympics presents to send a firm message against its use; notes that previous attempts to ensure that the supply chains of Olympic merchandise are ethically sourced have not been particularly effective; and consequently urges the Government to ensure that all official merchandise, equipment and clothing produced for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games are sourced from producers that adhere to the International Labour Organisation Convention 182 and Recommendation 190, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
