The motion
That this House congratulates Gwent super-middleweight world champion Joe Calzaghe on being voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2007; additionally congratulates his father Enzo, for his award of Coach of the Year in the same awards ceremony on 9th December; and believes that significant investment in grass roots sports, as part of the build up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2012, is essential to ensure that more talented athletes from across the United Kingdom are given every opportunity to maximise their own sporting potential.
