The motion
That this House notes with concern that in the week beginning 15th October 2007, the BBC Director General announced significant job cuts within the Corporation; further notes that the licence fee settlement, announced earlier in 2007, significantly restricted the Corporation's resources; considers that the BBC has already suffered job and budget cuts and that more job losses will mean compromising the quality of service; urges the BBC management to halt its plans and consult staff on decisions regarding the future direction and priorities of the Corporation; and reaffirms its commitment to maintaining the BBC's future as a world-class public service broadcaster.
