PASSENGER MEMBERSHIP FOR NETWORK RAIL

Tabled by Lord Touhig (Labour) 40 signatures

The motion

That this House calls on Network Rail to recognise the importance of providing genuine public accountability for its services; notes that in a recent YouGov poll commissioned by the Co-operative Party, 81 per cent. of the public felt they had too little say in how public transport was run; urges the company to reform its constitution to allow the travelling public to become members of Network Rail; further urges the company to allow them to play a full role in its governance structure, including holding management to account; and calls upon the Government to withhold further subsidy from Network Rail until steps are taken to achieve this.
