The motion

That this House urges the Government to host an open, public and extended debate on the role of single faith schools in the UK to examine the relevance, sustainability and equity of such schools in the 21st century, and the contribution they make to social cohesion or social division, whether taxpayers whose children may not attend such schools should continue to support them or if they should finance themselves, whether they should be equally open to those of all religions and none or be able to discriminate and select their intake, and any other questions which the debate will bring forward, and in 18 months time to present a report with a range of proposals for debate and decision by Parliament.
