The motion
That this House notes that on 22nd January 2008 when floods were taking place in Shrewsbury and severe flood warnings were in place for many parts of Shropshire, the Government announced £5.5 million of cuts in spending for flood defences in the West Midlands; believes that this is an absolute betrayal of Shrewsbury by the Labour Government; and urges the Minister for the West Midlands, the hon. Member for Hodge Hill, with the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, to intervene to stop these cuts taking place.
