COUNTRY LIVING MAGAZINE FAIR TRADE FOR BRITISH FARMERS CAMPAIGN

Tabled by Tim Farron (Liberal Democrat) 34 signatures

The motion

That this House welcomes the Fair Trade for British Farmers campaign being run by Country Living Magazine; notes that whilst 86 per cent. of consumers think that Britain should be a farming nation, only 18 per cent. choose to buy British food; believes that this has to change in order to preserve Britain's agricultural industry; and calls for all those along the supply chain from producer to consumer to ensure that a high ethical standard is met with regard to each other actor on the supply chain, and for the Government to act to ensure codes of conduct are written and adhered to by all those with a vested interest in British farming.
