MURDER OF SERGE MAHESHE

That this House expresses its great distress at the murder in Bukavu in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo of the UN radio journalist Serge Maheshe; notes with gravest concern the report of the United Nations identifying gross shortcomings in the investigation of the crime and the trial of two of Mr Maheshe's colleagues currently under sentence of death for the murder; and calls on the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo to address the deficiencies already identified and to ensure a free and fair appeal process.
