LONG DISTANCE TRANSPORT OF ANIMALS FOR SLAUGHTER

That this House supports the goal of the global campaign to end the long distance transport of animals for slaughter; expresses the hope that the European Commission will expedite its review of the European Union rules on transport, proposes a short finite limit on journey times for slaughter and improved standards covering vehicles, journey plans and areas where animals can rest off the transport vehicle; and calls upon the Government actively to support further measures in these areas within the European Union.
