The motion
That this House notes and welcomes the fact that St George's Day is becoming a larger event in the annual calendar; embraces this reality and the emergence of a more defined English identity; looks forward to England co-operating in the future with its neighbour Scotland as well as other nations and states of Europe and the world; and further notes that the number of independent states quadrupled during the 20th century, with Europe alone now having almost as many independent states as the world had only 80 years ago.
