The motion
That this House expresses grave concern at the plans in this year's Budget to abolish the 10 pence rate of income tax which is already resulting in an increase in income tax for 5.3 million people; warns that this will have a massively detrimental impact on the poorest people in our society and will hit single low-earners and pensioners particularly hard; and urges the Government to cut the basic rate of income tax by four pence in the pound, paid for by removing loopholes for the super-rich and introducing higher environmental taxes.
