SUICIDE IN PRISON

That this House is appalled at the death in 2004 of Sheena Kotecha aged 22 who committed suicide in prison; notes that, despite communicating her intended actions to medical staff, the Prison Service failed in preventing her death; calls on the Prison Service to improve prevention of suicide; and calls upon the Government urgently to review the mechanisms in place which monitor and communicate the mental health of inmates.
