MEAT HYGIENE SERVICE

Tabled by Dr David Drew (Labour (Co-op)) 41 signatures

The motion

That this House welcomes the decision of the Food Standards Agency not to push ahead with its plans to privatise meat inspection; congratulates the campaign run by Unison to draw attention to the dangers of privatisation; and considers that a period of stability is necessary in this industry in order to ensure that only the best quality meat is available for sale as a prerequisite of keeping most of this industry in the public sector.
