The motion
That this House pays tribute to BBC football commentator John Motson after a career of 37 years reporting; notes with acclaim his professionalism and deep statistical knowledge of clubs and players; congratulates him for his trademark superlative live commentary on the televised European Championship 2008 Final on Sunday 29th June; wishes him a well-deserved retirement; and trusts that there may be opportunities for him to be afforded occasional cameo further appearances to remind audiences of the special qualities which made him a much admired great British institution.
