UKRAINE'S APPLICATION TO JOIN THE EU

That this House welcomes the development of democracy in Ukraine; acknowledges the commitment of all the major Ukrainian political parties to the goal of European Union membership; and, while recognising there are still significant political and economic reforms to be undertaken before membership can be achieved, urges the UK Government to offer all possible support, encouragement and assistance to Ukraine in its application for membership, which will be in the long term interest of the people of both countries.
