VEHICLE AND OPERATORS SERVICE AGENCY

That this House welcomes the Government's decision to keep the functions of the Vehicle and Operators Services Agency within the public sector; recognises the valuable contribution made by the staff of the Agency towards the achievement of the Government's targets for improvements in road safety; notes that the impartiality and professionalism of the Agency's staff is widely valued and respected by road hauliers and public service vehicle operators alike and that the task of ensuring the roadworthiness of all vehicles on British roads is extremely important; and is confident that with sufficient resources and with proper leadership and support the current staff of the Agency are more than capable of rising to the challenge now that the uncertainty that has surrounded the future of the Agency is finally resolved.
