The motion
That this House notes with extreme concern the disclosure by the BBC Panorama programme on 14th September that GCHQ possesses recordings of intercept intelligence relating to the 1998 Omagh bomb; further notes that at the time of the bombing the then Prime Minister promised that all state agencies would pursue the guilty to the utmost; welcomes the Government initiating an immediate review of this intelligence failure, but believes that Sir Peter Gibson should be required to complete his report in a shorter time frame than three months on account of the seriousness of the issues raised and the need to restore confidence in the state agencies involved and in the justice system; and urges the Government to ensure that all the information made available to Sir Peter is also immediately disclosed to the legal counsel acting on behalf of the families of the victims of the Omagh bombing.
